How to Use Satin Dreams™ Paint
Achieve stunning, long-lasting results with this easy 3-step process. Whether you're flipping furniture, refreshing cabinetry, or adding color to trim, proper prep and application are key to a flawless finish.
STEP 1: Prep Your Surface
The better the prep, the better the results.
- Wipe away all grease, dust, wax, and contaminants using a degreaser or mild soap and water. Let dry completely.
- For surfaces with old paint, poly, or lacquer, we recommend using GreenEZ® Furniture Stripper to safely remove stubborn topcoats before painting. It’s non-toxic and designed to prep wood without harsh fumes or damage.
Lightly sand glossy or sealed areas using 220–320 grit sandpaper to dull the surface. This helps Satin Dreams adhere properly.- If the surface feels rough or you’ve filled any imperfections, sand smooth using 320–400 grit.
✅ Important: After sanding, remove all dust with a vacuum and lint-free cloth. Even small dust particles can affect the final finish.
STEP 2: Apply Satin Dreams™ Paint
Our self-leveling formula makes application easy with brush, roller, or sprayer.
Brush or Roller Application:
- Do not shake. Use a stir stick to mix thoroughly before and during use.
- We recommend synthetic brushes or a ¼” nap microfiber or foam roller for best results.
- Avoid heavy application. Let each coat dry fully before recoating (2–4 hours). Two coats are recommended for full coverage.
- Lightly sand between coats with 320–400 grit for an ultra-smooth, professional finish.

- Thin the Paint (If Needed): Start with the paint unthinned. If it’s too thick for your sprayer, you may thin with 5–10% clean water until the consistency flows smoothly.
- Filter the Paint: Use a mesh paint strainer before filling the sprayer cup to avoid clogs.
- Recommended Tip Sizes: HVLP: 1.8–2.5mm tip Airless: 208–310 tip
- Spray in Light Passes: Hold sprayer 8–12 inches from the surface.
- Apply in overlapping passes for even coverage.
- Dry Time Between Coats: Wait 2–4 hours before recoating.
- Apply 2–3 light coats for best results.
