How To Use
How To Use GreenEZ Strip & Clean Kit
Preparation
- Ensure the area is well-ventilated.
- Protect surrounding areas with a drop cloth or newspaper.
Step 1: Shake Well
Before use, shake the GreenEZ Furniture Stripper bottle thoroughly to ensure the formula is well mixed.
Step 2: Apply GreenEZ Furniture Stripper
Using a brush or roller, apply a generous layer of GreenEZ Furniture Stripper to the surface you are treating. For intricate areas, a smaller brush may be required for accurate application.
Dwell Time: The dwell time varies depending on the type of coating and the material:
- Paint and Varnish on Wood: Minimum 50-60 minutes. Wait until the finish visibly bubbles or softens.
- Epoxy and Polyurethane Finishes: Minimum 5-8 Hours. Look for a visible softening or lifting of the finish.
Step 3: Cover (If Needed)
In cases of thick or stubborn coatings, or when working in direct sunlight or windy conditions, cover the treated area with plastic to prevent the stripper from drying out too quickly.
Step 4: Scrape Off Coating
Once the coating has visibly reacted, use a scraper, putty knife, or stripping tool to gently remove the lifted finish from the surface. For intricate or delicate areas, a soft brush or a stripping pad may be more appropriate.
Step 5: Clean Up
After stripping, use GreenEZ Finishing Cleaner and a clean cloth or sponge to remove any remaining residue. For porous surfaces, a second application of the cleaner may be necessary to ensure all residue is removed.
Final Step: Prep for Stain, Paint, or Sealer
After cleaning up the residue with Finishing Cleaner sand the surface down to bare wood working up to a 220 grit to ensure the surface is porous enough for stains or sealer.
Removing Stain with Finishing Cleaner: To remove stain apply the Finishing Cleaner over the stained section. Let dwell for 15-30 minutes and scrub with fine steel wool.
Tips:
- Always test the product on a small, inconspicuous area first.
- Wear protective gloves and eyewear during application.
- Follow specific disposal instructions for waste and leftover product.
By following these tailored instructions, you can effectively use GreenEZ Strip & Clean Kit on a wide range of materials and coatings, ensuring optimal results for every project.
Adjust dwell times as necessary based on your observations of the coating's reaction to the stripper, as some may require slightly longer or shorter times than suggested.

Can I use this product on all types of wood?
GreenEZ Furniture Stripper is safe for use on almost all types of wood, including oak, pine, maple, and more.
However, it's always a good idea to test a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure compatibility.
How long does it take for GreenEZ Furniture Stripper to work?
The time it takes for the product to work varies depending on factors like the type of coatings or finish, thickness, and temperature.
Generally, it takes about 1-3 hours for most paint coatings to soften, but stubborn coatings like polyurethane or epoxy may take a minimum of 5-8 hours.
Is protective gear necessary when using GreenEZ Furniture Stripper?
While GreenEZ Furniture Stripper is non-toxic and much safer than many other stripping products, it's still a good idea to wear gloves and safety goggles to protect your skin and eyes during application and removal.
Can I use GreenEZ Furniture Stripper on vertical surfaces?
Yes! Our improved formula now allows for use on vertical surfaces without it dripping down unevenly.
Will the Furniture Stripping Kit remove wood stain?
Our stripper is highly effective in removing surface coatings, preparing your piece for the next steps, such as sanding. However, to fully lift and remove the stain from the wood, our Finishing Cleaner is essential.
The stripper alone is not enough to remove stain.
To remove stain:
Apply the Finishing Cleaner over the stained section. Let dwell for 15-30 minutes and scrub with fine steel wool.
Will GreenEZ Furniture Stripper work on lead paint?
Yes, it will!
But, when dealing with lead paint, it is essential to prioritize safety and follow specific precautions due to the toxic nature of lead. Lead paint removal can generate harmful dust and chips, so it’s crucial to minimize exposure. Here are the steps you should take:
1. Wear Protective Gear: Always use a high-quality respirator mask rated for lead particles, gloves, goggles, and disposable coveralls to prevent skin contact and inhalation of lead dust.
2. Prepare the Area: Work in a well-ventilated space, and use plastic sheeting to seal off the area and contain lead particles. Ensure that the workspace is adequately sealed off from the rest of the building to prevent the spread of lead dust.
3. Use Safe Removal Practices: Apply our product following the recommended guidelines. Consider wetting the lead paint surface to minimize dust. Avoid dry sanding or burning off paint, as these methods increase the risk of lead exposure.
4. Cleanup Thoroughly: After stripping the paint, clean the area meticulously with a HEPA vacuum to remove all dust and particles, followed by wet cleaning the surfaces. Dispose of the used materials and protective gear according to local hazardous waste regulations.
5. Verify Safety Post-Removal: After clean-up, it may be a good idea to have the area tested by a lead abatement professional to ensure all lead residues have been effectively removed.
Remember, if you are not comfortable or equipped to handle lead paint safely, we strongly recommend hiring a professional certified in lead paint removal. Taking these precautions will help ensure your safety and the effectiveness of the paint stripping process on lead-based paint.
