Why You’ll Love Satin Dreams

✅ Scratch-Resistant Finish – Urethane-fortified acrylic dries hard, so cabinet doors and dresser tops hold up to daily use, not just decorative pieces
✅ No Primer on Most Pieces – Scuff the glossy spots, wipe clean, paint. No stripping, no primer coat, no wasted weekend.
✅ Levels Itself Flat – Brush and roller texture settles out as it dries. A sprayed look, by hand, with whatever you already own.
✅ Safe for Your Home – Ultra-low VOC, water-based with soap-and-water cleanup. Paint in the kitchen with the windows cracked open, not in the garage.

  1. Clean. Remove grease and residue with Finishing Cleaner or a good degreaser.
  2. Scuff. Lightly sand glossy or slick spots with 220 to 320 grit and wipe the dust off with a tack cloth. On bare oak, cherry, walnut or pine under a light color, block tannins first.
  3. Paint. Stir well, don't shake. Apply a thin coat with a synthetic brush, 1/4 inch nap roller or HVLP sprayer.
  4. Recoat. Touch dry in 1 to 2 hours. Lightly sand with 320 to 400 grit and add a second coat after 2 to 4 hours.
  5. Cure. Allow 7 days before heavy use. Seal tabletops and cabinets with Furniture Shield if you want extra protection.

THE PAINT DAY

Three steps. A smooth satin finish.

Prep the surface

Clean off grease with our Finishing Cleaner, lightly scuff glossy spots with 220 to 320 grit, and wipe the dust away. No primer on most furniture.

Stir and paint

Stir it, don't shake it, then brush, roll or spray a thin coat. It levels as it dries, so brush strokes fade away.

Recoat and cure

Touch dry in 1 to 2 hours, recoat in 2 to 4. Most colors cover in two coats, and it fully cures in 7 days.

01NO PRIMER

Covers dark wood, no primer

It bonds to most previously painted and stained furniture, so you skip the primer coat and go straight to color. Most pieces cover in two thin coats.

“No priming! On a dark stained vintage top! The first pic is the first coat and the second shows the coverage complete with the second coat.”

02SMOOTH FINISH

Brush strokes level out

The self-leveling formula flows out as it dries for a smooth satin finish, whether you brush, roll or spray. Tools clean up with soap and water.

“Very happy with this paint. It brushes on like silk...”

GOT QUESTIONS?

Satin Dreams
questions.

Everything to know before you open the can.

Do I need a primer?

Not on most furniture or previously painted surfaces. Clean it, lightly scuff anything glossy, and paint. On bare oak, cherry, walnut or pine under a light color, block the tannins first so they don't bleed through.

How many coats will I need?

Most colors cover in two thin coats, even over dark finishes. Some lighter or brighter colors can take a third. Thin coats level out better than one heavy coat.

How long between coats?

It's touch dry in 1 to 2 hours. Recoat after 2 to 4 hours, and lightly sand with 320 to 400 grit between coats for the smoothest finish.

When can I use the piece?

You can handle it once it's dry, but give it 7 days to fully cure before heavy use.

Can I spray it?

Yes. It sprays through an HVLP sprayer and also brushes and rolls on smooth. Stir it well first, and don't shake it, since shaking adds bubbles.

Do I need to seal it?

It's durable and washable on its own. For tabletops, cabinets and other high-wear pieces, add our Furniture Shield in gloss, satin or matte. You can seal after about 2 hours at 65 to 75°F.

Can you match a color from another brand?

Yes. Send us any Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, Farrow & Ball, Behr, Valspar or other brand color and we'll mix it at the same $40 per quart. Custom mixes ship in 2 to 3 business days. Order a custom color.

What can I paint with it?

Furniture, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, interior doors, trim and molding, and previously painted or stained wood. MDF and laminate work with a light scuff sand first. It's not for outdoor pieces, floors or high-heat surfaces.

How much do I need?

A quart covers about 100 to 125 sq ft, usually enough for a dresser or a pair of nightstands in two coats.

How do I clean up?

Brushes, rollers and spills clean up with soap and water while the paint is still wet.
